Apple's Siri Finally Got Smart — and It Can See What You See
Years after everyone gave up on Siri, Apple made it genuinely useful.
Apple's iOS 27 update finally ships the advanced Siri that Apple teased over two years ago, built on the back of Google's Gemini models. It now handles complex, multistep requests, understands what's on your screen, can fetch context from your files, messages and email, and answers questions about things visible in your camera viewfinder. There's also a new Shortcuts creation feature that lets you describe shortcuts and automations in natural language to create them — the reviewer built one to Shazam a song and save both the track and its location.
- Siri now understands multi-step requests and can look at what's on your screen, instead of just setting timers
- It can search your messages, email, and files — and the camera can identify or explain things you point it at
- You can build phone automations by describing them in plain English, no technical know-how needed
Why It Matters
Your phone assistant may finally save you real time on searches, messages, and everyday questions.
