MoEngage acquires Aampe to deploy AI agents for personalized marketing
One AI agent per customer replaces traditional segments in a $280M-backed deal.
MoEngage, a leading Indian customer engagement platform serving 1,350+ brands globally, has acquired Aampe, a San Francisco startup that puts a dedicated AI agent on every individual customer. The all-cash deal is valued at tens of millions, according to a source. Aampe's technology eliminates traditional audience segments and campaign rules, instead letting an AI decide what message to send to each user and when, based on real-time behavior. MoEngage CEO Raviteja Dodda said the acquisition will help win enterprise clients switching from Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Adobe Experience Cloud — already signing several multimillion-dollar contracts from such migrations.
Aampe, founded in 2020, grew ARR 150% over the past year and serves customers like Swiggy, Grab, and Taxfix. MoEngage, which raised $280M in primary and secondary transactions six months ago, will absorb Aampe's 20 employees (total headcount now ~820). The move reflects a broader industry shift: marketing software is moving from content-generation tools to autonomous AI agents that make decisions at scale. For MoEngage, this acquisition positions it to capture the growing demand for hyper-personalized, agent-driven customer engagement.
