Google's Gemini Spark arrives on Mac, connects to Keep, Tasks & more

Google has officially launched Gemini Spark, its agentic AI assistant, on macOS via the existing Gemini desktop app. The move pits Spark directly against desktop AI agents like Claude Desktop, Microsoft Copilot, and OpenClaw. Key new features include real-time topic tracking — allowing Spark to monitor sports scores, stock movements, breaking news, and social media — and the ability to connect to Google Tasks and Google Keep, addressing a major frustration from early tests. Additionally, Spark now integrates with third-party services such as Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, and Zillow Rentals, enabling users to reserve tables, order groceries, design flyers, or schedule apartment tours directly through the assistant.

Spark can also work with local files on the Mac — sorting, organizing, or using them as sources for new Google Workspace documents. For example, it can turn invoice PDFs into a budgeting spreadsheet. While multi-step remote tasks (e.g., asking your phone to trigger a desktop file search) are not yet live, Google promises they are coming soon. Users can also set up custom Model Context Protocol (MCP) connections to integrate their favorite apps more deeply. For now, Gemini Spark on macOS is a beta feature available only to Gemini Ultra subscribers in the U.S.
