Google filed a lawsuit against Outsider Enterprise, a Chinese cybercrime network that used AI (including Google’s Gemini) to power a “phishing-for-dummies” platform. The group sent 2.5 million scam texts in two weeks, and over a five-month period Google detected more than 1.59 million URLs connected to the operation. According to the FBI, the platform enabled the theft of at least 3.87 million stolen credit cards, with an estimated $1.9 billion in losses. Google is collaborating with AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and the FBI to dismantle the infrastructure.
