Yoco's AI Assistant for 200k Merchants Launches in 2026—But It's Not What You Think

Yoco, a South African fintech powering card payments and POS systems for over 200,000 small and medium enterprises, announced at its Unfair Advantage event plans to launch Yoco AI in Q3 2026. The assistant, accelerated by the acquisition of AI-native operating system Dyner.ai, will be integrated into the Yoco app and proactively analyze data from across Yoco's ecosystem—including payments, sales activity, product data, and merchant funding. According to Dean Braude, Yoco's director of design, the AI will surface recommendations automatically: 'Instead of you going to find the information, it brings it to you.' For example, it can flag missing product catalog entries or unusual sales patterns, helping merchants identify problems before they escalate.

Yoco, which holds roughly 34–36% market share in the Western Cape and 19% in its focus sectors (food & beverage, retail, health & beauty), views the assistant as part of a broader shift from a payments-only provider to a connected business management platform. Braude emphasized that the goal is to reduce complexity and administrative overhead for merchants, many of whom spend significant time reconciling data across separate systems. 'Our goal is to increase market share by making sure we're providing offerings that actually provide outsized value for what they're paying,' he said. By weaving AI into its existing cloud-based ecosystem, Yoco aims to help merchants grow—and grow alongside them.
