US Department of Labor Launches AI Apprenticeship Innovation Portal

The U.S. Department of Labor today unveiled the AI in Registered Apprenticeship Innovation Portal, a centralized online resource designed to help organizations build artificial intelligence literacy and develop AI-focused Registered Apprenticeship programs. Announced during National Apprenticeship Week at the event "Building the AI-Ready Workforce through Registered Apprenticeship," the portal provides practical tools and actionable guidance for integrating AI skills into apprenticeship training. Acting Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling emphasized the department's commitment to ensuring every American can thrive in a workforce reshaped by AI, calling the portal a major step forward in preparing for future jobs.

The portal organizes resources around three key areas: AI Skills and Literacy, which explains AI literacy and provides general training resources; AI Skill Building by Industry, offering tailored modules for sectors like education, finance, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing; and three options to integrate AI into programs—joining an existing National Registered Apprenticeship, creating a new AI-focused program, or updating an existing one. Assistant Secretary Henry Mack noted the launch reflects the Administration's commitment to equipping workers and businesses to lead in an AI-driven economy. The initiative builds on the department's AI Literacy Framework released earlier this year, providing a concrete pathway for employers and workers to develop AI competencies.
