Univers launches Physical AI platform for real-time industrial control

At VivaTech 2026 in Paris, Univers introduced its next-generation Platform for Physical AI, a system designed to bring reliable, real-time AI to industrial and energy operations. The platform enables physical assets—from power grids to factory equipment—to sense their environment, make decisions, and act autonomously. Univers already connects over 400 million devices and manages more than 1,000 GW of energy assets worldwide, making this one of the largest deployments of AI in physical infrastructure. The platform targets enterprise use cases such as predictive maintenance, energy optimization, and automated grid balancing, where latency and accuracy are critical.

Unlike cloud-only AI solutions, Univers’s platform runs inference at the edge, reducing reliance on centralized data centers and cutting response times from seconds to milliseconds. The company claims its system can handle complex operational constraints while maintaining safety and reliability standards. With this launch, Univers is positioning itself as a key infrastructure layer for what it calls “Physical AI”—the application of AI to control and optimize real-world machinery and energy systems. Early adopters include large utilities and industrial firms that have already deployed the platform to reduce downtime and improve efficiency. The announcement underscores a growing trend: moving AI from chatbots and text generation into the physical world where it can directly impact energy consumption, industrial productivity, and infrastructure resilience.
