NVIDIA and Japan build world's first national AI infrastructure with Vera Rubin

NVIDIA announced a landmark partnership with Noetra Corp. and Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) to build the NVIDIA Vera Rubin AI factory, the world's first national AI infrastructure dedicated to physical AI. The factory will deliver 140 megawatts of data center capacity using 13,750 NVIDIA Vera CPUs and 27,500 NVIDIA Rubin GPUs, architected on the NVIDIA DSX platform with Spectrum-X Ethernet networking and BlueField DPUs. It will provide the computing foundation for Japan's FRONTia Project, which aims to develop highly reliable open multimodal foundation models for AI agents, digital twins, robotics, and physical AI applications across manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and telecommunications.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated, 'Japan invented modern manufacturing. Now, it is building the AI factories that will power the next industrial revolution.' The initiative is backed by Japan's AI Robotics Strategy, targeting over 30% of the global AI robotics market by 2040 (an estimated $133 billion opportunity). Noetra will make pretrained weights of its multimodal foundation models broadly available to domestic developers alongside NVIDIA's Nemotron, Cosmos, Isaac GR00T, and NeMo libraries. As the factory scales, it will support trillion-parameter model training, positioning Japan as a global leader in industrial AI.
