Moonshot AI seeks $30B valuation, launches Kimi Work agent

Moonshot AI, the Chinese AI startup behind the popular Kimi assistant, is making aggressive moves. The company is reportedly seeking a $30 billion valuation in its third funding round within six months, a massive leap from its $4 billion valuation as recently as December 2025. This rapid growth reflects investor confidence in Moonshot's ability to scale consumer AI products and generate meaningful revenue.

To fuel that growth, Moonshot just launched 'Kimi Work,' a new general-purpose AI agent powered by its proprietary K2.6 model family. Unlike earlier iterations focused on chat and productivity, Kimi Work is designed to handle multi-step tasks autonomously—booking travel, managing workflows, and integrating with external APIs. The company says annual recurring revenue exceeded $200 million in April 2026, signaling a sharp pivot toward monetization after years of free-tier dominance.
