Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has shipped its 10MW-class centrifugal chiller test unit to the United States, with arrival at the Port of Brunswick, Georgia scheduled around July. This marks a key milestone in commercializing MHI's integrated AI infrastructure strategy for high-density AI workloads. The chiller serves as the core component of MHI's Modular Chiller Plant (MCP), a pre-engineered cooling system that integrates pumps, heat exchangers, and controls into a modular architecture. The MCP is designed to support NVIDIA DSX—NVIDIA's AI factory-scale platform—and enables scalable liquid-cooled deployments, improved Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), and better Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE) through closed-loop configurations that address water scarcity concerns.

MCP is currently undergoing U.S. safety and regulatory certifications, including UL certification, with the chiller shipment contributing to certification readiness. The system reduces onsite integration requirements and helps hyperscale, colocation, and AI infrastructure operators manage cooling as computing densities increase. MHI participates in the NVIDIA Partner Network as a Power & Cooling Partner and collaborates on advancing integrated power technologies like 800VDC. MHI's senior general manager emphasized that AI growth demands a step-change in infrastructure scale, with cooling, power, and compute designed as one system. NVIDIA's vice president of AI infrastructure noted that MHI's work can help ecosystem partners build more scalable and energy-efficient AI factories.
