Mistral’s New ‘Vibe’ Agent Isn’t Just Another Tool — It’s One AI That Does Your Job and Codes Too
Vibe replaces Le Chat with Work Mode and Code Mode for enterprise automation.
Mistral has released Vibe, a unified AI agent that merges work and coding capabilities, replacing its previous Le Chat product. Vibe introduces two primary modes: Work Mode for long-running, multi-step enterprise tasks, and Code Mode for remote coding and pull requests. Work Mode can search across enterprise knowledge bases (Google Workspace, Outlook, SharePoint, Slack, GitHub), analyze structured data, synthesize documents and reports, and schedule recurring tasks. Code Mode launches remote coding agents from a dedicated web surface, and a new VS Code extension brings the agent directly into the IDE for project-wide automation. Vibe carries over all conversations, settings, and plans from Le Chat, and is governed by admin-level permissions.
Vibe’s Work Mode operates as a powerful agent that plans tasks, gets user sign-off, then executes across integrated connectors. It can turn a morning of admin into a single prompt: catch up on missed updates, pull numbers, draft reports, and push to Notion or SharePoint. For organizations, it runs repeatable processes grounded in existing documents and systems. Vibe also supports reusable skills via open standards for automating workflows, and can run prompts on daily, weekly, or monthly cadences. Mistral also released updated CLI tools and the Mistral Common library (v1.11.3) with improved OpenAI conversions and tokenizer fixes. Vibe is available on web and mobile, with the VS Code extension for developers.
- Vibe combines Work Mode (long-running multi-step tasks) and Code Mode (remote coding and PRs) in one agent.
- Includes VS Code extension and CLI for project-wide automation; supports connectors like Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub.
- Offers scheduling for recurring tasks and reusable skills via open standards for enterprise workflows.
