Meta plans AI pendant and 'Wearables for Work' in 10M unit push
Meta aims to sell 10 million wearables by H2 2026, starts testing AI pendant.
Meta Platforms is accelerating its push into AI-powered wearables with plans to start testing an AI pendant within the next year, according to an internal memo from VP of wearables Alex Himel, reported by The Information. The pendant initiative follows Meta's acquisition of startup Limitless, which makes a similar device that records and transcribes conversations. The company also plans to expand its smart glasses lineup beyond current Ray-Ban and Oakley partnerships, and launch a new business-focused service called 'Wearables for Work.' Meta aims to sell 10 million wearable devices in the second half of 2026 by entering more countries and releasing new products, despite its Reality Labs unit reporting a $4.03 billion loss in Q1 on just $402 million in revenue.
