Ford’s new AI assistant will help fleet owners know if seatbelts are being used
Ford's new AI assistant for commercial fleets analyzes millions of data points to boost profits.
Ford has launched Ford Pro AI, a new AI assistant designed to help commercial fleet owners optimize operations and boost profits. The tool, announced at Work Truck Week and now available to all U.S.-based Ford Pro telematics subscribers, analyzes millions of data points from a customer's specific fleet. Unlike a simple chatbot, it uses proprietary systems and AI agents on Google Cloud to deliver detailed, actionable insights. These include monitoring seatbelt usage, tracking fuel consumption, identifying speeding and harsh acceleration events, and providing detailed vehicle health diagnostics beyond basic error codes. The system is designed to reduce AI hallucinations by leveraging internal customer data.
This move is a key part of Ford's strategy to monetize software, capitalizing on its profitable Ford Pro division, which generated $66.3 billion in revenue and $6.8 billion in net income in 2025. Paid software subscriptions for Ford Pro grew by 30% last year. The company is also developing a separate AI assistant for consumer vehicle owners, slated to debut in its smartphone app before expanding into vehicles in 2027. However, this push into AI comes alongside executive warnings about potential job cuts, with CEO Jim Farley having previously predicted AI could halve white-collar jobs in the U.S.
