Facebook Marketplace now lets Meta AI respond to buyers’ messages
Sellers can now use Meta AI to automatically respond to buyer inquiries and generate entire listings from photos.
Meta is rolling out a significant AI upgrade for Facebook Marketplace, introducing three core features powered by Meta AI to automate the most time-consuming parts of buying and selling. The flagship tool allows sellers to enable auto-replies for initial buyer inquiries. When a buyer asks a common question like "Is this available?", Meta AI drafts a response using details from the listing, such as price and pickup location. Sellers can preview and edit these drafts, saving them from manually answering repetitive messages—a pain point so significant that some sellers had previously built their own AI tools.
For listing creation, sellers can now upload a photo and have Meta AI generate a complete draft, including a description and a price suggestion based on similar local items. On the buyer side, AI now creates a summarized profile of each seller, displaying their tenure on Facebook, friend count, Marketplace history, and seller ratings at the top of their page. Additionally, Meta is expanding shipping options, allowing sellers to offer shipping, generate prepaid labels, and track orders from a unified dashboard. These features build upon existing Marketplace AI integrations, like tools to help buyers ask better questions.
- Meta AI auto-replies draft responses to common buyer questions using listing details, which sellers can edit.
- AI listing creation generates full draft listings, including descriptions and local price suggestions, from a single photo.
- Buyers see AI-summarized seller profiles with activity history and ratings, while sellers gain new shipping tools.
