Trained musicians were better at spotting the difference — a useful hint that the illusion isn't perfect.
So what does this actually mean? A robot concert pianist isn't the point. The skill being demonstrated — a machine hand that can make delicate, precisely controlled, human-like movements in response to instructions — matters far more outside music. The same techniques could inform robotic surgery, physical therapy, assembly work, or any job where a machine needs a soft, skilled touch rather than just raw force.
