DICT and Google Cloud partner to bring AI agents and cybersecurity to Philippine citizen services
50,000 public servants get Gemini Enterprise as Philippines launches AI-powered e-government.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and Google Cloud have announced a multi-year collaboration to embed enterprise AI into public service delivery in the Philippines. The initiative, spearheaded by the "AI Agents for Public Sector" program, makes Gemini Enterprise and Google Workspace available to public servants through the PS-DBM eMarketplace platform. Over 50,000 government employees will gain access to the Gemini Enterprise app, an agentic 'front door' that allows them to discover, create, and use AI agents in a unified environment. These agents can autonomously browse web sources, retrieve data across siloed systems, and even draft briefs—enabling faster, more informed decision-making. The partnership also includes a cross-agency cyber defense alliance and integration with Google's trans-Pacific subsea cable systems to improve connectivity and security.
This strategic collaboration aligns with the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028, aiming to deliver frictionless citizen services while supercharging public sector productivity. Citizens will benefit from context-aware AI agents integrated into e-government platforms, allowing them to interact in local languages via text or voice to navigate administrative procedures like business registration or disaster relief. DICT Secretary Henry Rhoel Aguda emphasized that transformation is about sustained systemic efficiency and widespread access to e-government services. By combining AI-driven systems, proactive cyber defense, and network infrastructure, the partnership aims to create an inclusive, cyber-resilient, AI-driven digital economy for every Filipino.
