ByteDance's Doubao Big Model, powered by the company's Volcano Engine, has become the dominant AI assistant in China's electric vehicle market. The system is now embedded in over 7 million cars spanning 145 distinct models from 50 different automakers. Each day, Doubao processes more than 30 million in-cockpit interactions—voice commands, navigation requests, infotainment controls—making it one of the most deployed AI models in the automotive sector globally. ByteDance has also secured integrations with foreign brands manufacturing vehicles in China, expanding its reach beyond domestic EV makers. The company positions Doubao as a full-stack cockpit solution, offering natural language understanding, multimodal input (voice, touch, gesture), and real-time cloud sync via Volcano Engine's infrastructure.
