Amazon's New AI Fills Out Endless Vendor Questionnaires for You
Could save your team hundreds of hours a year on soul-crushing paperwork
If you've ever worked at a company that sells to other companies, you know the pain: a big customer sends over an RFI questionnaire (a long form asking what you do, what you cost, and how you operate) and someone has to answer every question. A typical large company handles hundreds of these a year, each one a sprawling spreadsheet with multiple tabs, nested question sets, and different answer formats. Doing this by hand means lots of coordination, slow replies, and mistakes every time the form's format changes.
Amazon's answer is a new tool called Amazon Quick Automate. Rather than writing computer code, you describe your goal in ordinary language — what to read, how to organize it, where to put the result — and the tool assembles a working automation using a team of AI agents. Those agents can move across departments, systems, and third-party software. In this case, the automation reads a multi-tab RFI workbook sitting in Amazon's S3 storage service, pulls out every question along with its category and answer type, and writes a clean, tidy spreadsheet file back out. No custom programming required for common cases.
The setup is fairly hands-on. You connect the tool to your storage, create a project, type your instructions, then refine the workflow by chatting with it — asking for specific tweaks until the output looks right. You test it in a safe development account first, then export and import the finished version into your live system. Because the instructions are in plain language, updating it for a new questionnaire format is mostly a matter of rewording your request.
The catch: this is not a consumer product. You need an Amazon Quick Enterprise subscription, storage in the same Amazon region, and some familiarity with Amazon's security roles and permissions. You also pay for both the tool and the storage it uses. For a small business, the setup effort may outweigh the benefit — but for a sales or procurement team drowning in forms, it's aimed squarely at your worst weekly chore.
- Amazon's Quick Automate uses AI agents to read long vendor questionnaires and turn messy multi-tab spreadsheets into clean, organized data automatically.
- You tell it what you want in plain English instead of writing code, and you can tweak the workflow just by chatting with it.
- It's built for big companies on an Amazon Quick Enterprise plan — not something you can casually sign up for as an individual.
