Anthropic extends Fable 5 free access to July 19 with unchanged 50% cap
Free Fable 5 access on paid plans now runs through July 19, 2026
Anthropic announced a second extension of the Fable 5 promotional access period, now ending July 19, 2026, at 11:59:59 PM PT. Announced via the @claudeai X account and an updated support article, the move gives paid Claude subscribers five additional days of included Fable 5 usage—capped at 50% of each plan's weekly limit. The core mechanics remain identical to the July 1 terms: the $10/$50 per-million-token usage-credit pricing kicks in after the window, and no changes were made to covered plans, rate limits, or the exclusion of Standard Enterprise seats, usage-based Enterprise plans, and direct API access.
This marks the second extension after a turbulent launch. Fable 5 originally debuted June 9 with a two-week window, was suspended three days later by an export-control order, went dark for 19 days, and relaunched July 1 on a compressed 50%-capped schedule. The extension pushes total free-access days closer to the originally promised 14. Users should note that after July 19, Fable 5 access requires a funded prepaid credit balance with no grace period and no automatic fallback to another model. The unchanged terms mean anyone who understood the July 7 rules can simply tack on the extra days.
