Amazon's New AI Assistant Now Does Your Workday Email and Meetings

Amazon's Quick desktop app is now available to everyone on Mac and Windows after months of testing. Think of it as an AI assistant (software that can actually take actions for you, not just answer questions) built specifically for office work. Alongside it, Amazon added a new mobile feed for iPhones and Android that merges your email, calendar, customer records, and team chats into one short, prioritized list.

The pitch is aimed squarely at company IT departments. Right now, employees often quietly use unapproved AI tools to get work done faster — which means sensitive information can slip outside the company's control. Amazon says Quick avoids that by running on AWS (Amazon's cloud), keeping your data inside your own systems, and logging everything so it can be audited. The major security certifications big organizations require — including HIPAA for health data and FedRAMP for government work — are built in from day one.

In practice, Amazon describes a salesperson typing one request and getting a full meeting brief assembled in the background, then triaging priorities from her phone without opening another app. Anything one person builds — dashboards, automated helpers — is shared with the whole team. Southwest Airlines, which has more than 70,000 employees, says it's using Quick for market analytics and getting answers in seconds instead of waiting on ad hoc report requests.

The catch: this is an enterprise product, so you probably can't just download it yourself — your employer has to buy and configure it. And the privacy promises only hold if your company sets it up correctly. Amazon also hasn't published pricing, so it's hard to judge whether the time saved is worth the cost.
