You can order Grubhub and Uber Eats ‘conversationally’ with Alexa Plus

Amazon is launching a major update to its Alexa Plus AI assistant, enabling conversational food ordering from Grubhub and Uber Eats. Unlike traditional voice assistants that operate on a rigid call-and-response model, this feature allows users to build orders through natural dialogue. You can ask to "show me desserts," modify an item, or add a drink mid-conversation without waiting for Alexa to finish speaking. The assistant only intervenes when you need help, creating a flow similar to ordering in a restaurant. The update is currently rolling out to Alexa Plus subscribers with Echo Show 8 devices and larger, which display order changes in real-time.

This feature represents the first major application of Amazon's long-term vision to make Alexa Plus a truly conversational and proactive AI agent. The company has invested heavily in rebuilding its traditional voice assistant into a generative AI-powered system that understands natural language and context.
