xAI launches Grok Build beta for terminal-based coding agents
New CLI with parallel subagents, worktree support, and headless scripting
xAI has launched an early beta of Grok Build, a powerful new coding agent and CLI designed for professional software engineering. Available first for SuperGrok Heavy subscribers, Grok Build runs directly from the terminal and provides an interactive TUI, headless scripting for automation, parallel subagents for concurrent tasks, worktree support for managing multiple branches, and Agent Client Protocol (ACP) compatibility for building apps and orchestrators. Users can install it with a single command: `curl -fsSL https://x.ai/cli/install.sh | bash`. This release marks a significant step toward making Grok a serious tool for developers and complex coding workflows.
In addition to Grok Build, xAI unveiled Skills for Grok, a new feature that allows users to create persistent, custom expertise that carries across all conversations. Every Grok 4.3 account ships with ready-built skills for generating formatted Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and PDF reports—no setup required. Users can also build their own skills through conversation, uploading files or describing workflows, and Grok retains that knowledge forever. Skills are available immediately on grok.com, iOS, and Android, enabling professionals to automate routine tasks and maintain consistent formatting without repeating instructions.
