Workday Build adds Developer Agent, Agent-Ready Tools, and Agent Passport for HR/Finance AI apps

Workday has unveiled a suite of new agentic capabilities within its Workday Build platform, targeting developers building custom AI applications for HR, finance, and IT. The centerpiece is the 'Developer Agent,' which enables developers to create AI applications using natural language prompts instead of traditional coding. This dramatically lowers the barrier to entry for building custom workflows and automations. Complementing this are 'Agent-Ready Tools,' a set of pre-built integrations that grant agents controlled, role-based access to Workday's HR and finance data—ensuring that sensitive information remains protected while allowing AI agents to act on real employee records, payroll data, and financial transactions.

To address enterprise security and compliance concerns, Workday also introduced 'Agent Passport,' a verification and certification system for AI agents. Agent Passport provides a trust layer that validates agent behavior, data access policies, and compliance with corporate governance. Together, these capabilities form a closed loop: developers can rapidly prototype AI agents in natural language, equip them with governed data access, and then certify them for safe production deployment. Workday is positioning this as a major step toward responsible AI adoption in enterprise SaaS, aiming to accelerate digital transformation while maintaining strict control over sensitive workforce and financial data.
