Vertu launches $6,880 Alphafold foldable with enterprise AI agent
An AI-powered foldable for CEOs that connects to ERP and CRM systems.
Vertu, the Hong Kong-based luxury smartphone brand, announced the Alphafold, a foldable device starting at $6,880, aimed at CEOs and executives who need enterprise-grade AI on the move. The phone integrates Hermes Agent, an AI assistant built on the open-source Hermes project by Nous Research, capable of connecting to enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) systems. Through natural-language prompts, users can coordinate approvals, scheduling, sales tracking, travel planning, and operational reporting. The agent routes requests across multiple AI models—OpenAI’s GPT, Anthropic’s Claude, Google’s Gemini, and select open-source models—while integrating with over 80 apps and native phone functions for cross-platform workflows.
Vertu emphasizes privacy with a proprietary A5 security chip that isolates authentication keys and sensitive enterprise data from the main OS. Commercially sensitive data is processed locally, and prompts sent to external AI models are redacted or tokenized. However, the system has not yet undergone third-party security audits, though Vertu plans to pursue certification. The hardware includes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, an 8.05-inch foldable display (plus 6.53-inch outer screen), a 6,500 mAh battery, satellite communication, and a triple camera setup with 50 MP primary and ultrawide lenses plus a 5 MP telephoto. The hinge is rated for 650,000 folds. Higher-end models feature alligator leather, 18K gold, and diamond accents, with a top standard model priced at $46,800. Vertu aims to reinvent itself for the AI era, following earlier experiments like the Agent Q clamshell foldable.
