Ollama’s AI App Just Got Faster and Easier to Use

Ollama, a popular free tool that lets you run AI chatbots on your own computer, just released a small but helpful update. Version 0.32.15 makes the app start up faster when you first open it and shaves about half off the time it takes to get the very first word of an answer back to you. Instead of rebuilding the whole conversation each time, the software now keeps handy summaries of the models you’ve already used, so it doesn’t have to re-read everything from scratch.

Behind the scenes, the update also stops irritating freezes that could lock up the chat if the AI hit a hiccup while reading your message. The developers tweaked how the AI handles background instructions, too, so answers are more consistent no matter where the conversation goes. Under the hood, they also updated the engines that power the AI on Apple’s Mac computers and other systems, making everything run a bit more smoothly.

The release is small enough that most users won’t notice a giant splashy change, but anyone who talks to an AI assistant on their desktop every day will feel the difference. Faster starts mean you can jump into a chat immediately after opening the app, and quicker first replies mean you spend less time staring at a loading spinner.
