Twitch adds opt-out toggle for Amazon's generative AI training

Twitch has introduced a new privacy control that lets streamers prevent their content from being used in Amazon's generative AI training. The setting, labeled "Training for Generative AI," appears in the Security & Privacy tab and was found toggled on by default, though Amazon has not yet confirmed whether that is the standard default. According to Twitch's support page, opting out ensures that "your streams, VODs, clips, stream chats, and pictures and text on your channel" will not be used in future training of any Amazon AI model designed to generate or synthesize text, audio, images, or video.

Crucially, the opt-out only affects generative AI training—it does not block other AI-supported features like automatic captions, safety tools, or recommendation algorithms. Twitch also notes that if you participate in someone else's stream chat, that streamer's opt-out preference governs whether your chat messages can be used for training. This creates a nuanced situation where your data may still be used depending on the channel owner's choice. The move gives creators more control over their content, addressing growing concerns about how user-generated media is being fed into large language and image models without explicit consent.
