Researchers have developed a new AI-based method to model and control magnetic fields, a critical task for guiding medical devices like surgical robots. The new system matches the accuracy of current industry-standard physics models but is much faster, calculating optimal control in about 1 millisecond. Crucially, it works with complex, irregular hardware setups where older models fail, and the team is releasing all code and data openly to accelerate future development.
