AWS Bedrock AgentCore cuts migration IaC from weeks to minutes across 300+ apps
AWS's multi-agent framework slashes IaC development time from 3–4 weeks to minutes per app.
AWS Professional Services has unveiled a multi-agent orchestration framework built on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore that tackles the three biggest bottlenecks in large-scale cloud migrations: manual intake, redundant infrastructure development, and reactive post-migration operations. Manual discovery alone typically consumes weeks per application, while writing infrastructure as code (IaC) from scratch takes an additional 3–4 weeks per workload. Across a portfolio of over 300 applications, these repetitive tasks represent years of engineering effort. The framework shifts this work to AI agents, reducing IaC development time from 3–4 weeks to minutes per application, based on internal project tracking data.
The architecture uses the Strands Agents SDK and runs on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, a platform for building, connecting, and optimizing agents at scale with any framework or model. It includes four agents: the Intake Agent automates discovery and target-state architecture definition; the IaC Agent generates infrastructure code aligned with security best practices; the Migration Intelligence and Governance Agent handles portfolio-wide reporting and well-architected assessments across Jira, Confluence, and Webex; and the SRE Agent provides proactive post-migration monitoring and automated remediation. Agents connect to tools through Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, with AWS managed services like AWS Database Migration Service complementing the custom agents. The framework spans the entire migration lifecycle, from on-premises discovery to ongoing operations, while applying security controls at every phase.
- AWS's multi-agent framework on Bedrock AgentCore cuts IaC development from 3–4 weeks to minutes per app
- Four agents cover intake, IaC generation, migration governance, and SRE operations
- Built with Strands Agents SDK and MCP tool calling, integrated with AWS DMS and legacy tools like Jira
Why It Matters
Enterprises can now migrate 300+ workloads in months, not years, by automating discovery and infrastructure code generation.
