A new study finds all leading AI assistants share a similar 'optimal' personality profile.
A new arXiv paper from researchers Krishna, Chadalavada, and Jo presents a large-scale experiment analyzing the personality traits of frontier LLMs. Using external ELO-based scoring across 144 traits, they found that all major models — despite different training methods — converge on a systematic, methodical, and analytical personality. Traits such as 'remorseful' and 'sycophantic' are actively suppressed, while 'poetic' or 'playful' traits show only modest variation.
