Robots learn by watching people. A factory robot might learn how to assemble a part by observing a worker's hands. A home assistant might learn your cooking habits. But what if you later want those demonstrations erased? Maybe you quit your job, or a new law says your data must be removed. Retraining the robot from scratch without your data is costly and slow. This means a robot can act as if it forgot but secretly still contain your data. Checking only behavior would give false confidence.

The new test combines both axes into one final verdict, calibrated against a group of independently retrained robots. This gives a reliable standard for "yes, this robot has truly forgotten." As robots enter homes, hospitals, and workplaces, and as privacy laws like GDPR give people the right to demand data deletion, this audit could become as routine as a safety certificate. It turns a vague promise into a verifiable guarantee — and makes data removal affordable for everyone.
