Plaud's AI Earphones Can Record Meetings and Send Follow-Ups for You

Plaud, a company with over 2.5 million users, is moving from clip-on recorders into earphones. The new Plaud One looks like basic AirPods but is built for one job: capturing conversations and turning them into useful work. During a call, the earphones record and transcribe. Afterward, an AI agent—think of it as a smart digital assistant that can take actions—can write a follow-up email, create a presentation, or update your calendar by connecting to tools like Gmail, Notion, or Slack. The case itself also records in-person meetings from up to five meters away, and it has an eSIM (a built-in cellular connection) so you can command the AI without your phone or laptop.

Battery life is practical: six hours of in-person recording or three hours of calls on the earbuds, and up to 25 hours when using the charging case. You get 300 minutes of free transcription each month, then paid plans start around $8.33 per month. The price for the Plaud One is $249, and preorders are open now, with shipping expected in late 2026. This launch is intentionally small—Plaud is testing whether people actually want AI earbuds before going all in.

The catch? It’s not the only option. Rivals like Anker and Viaim already sell similar earbuds, and plenty of software apps do the same thing on your existing AirPods or Pixel Buds. Plaud’s advantage is combining hardware, transcription, and agentic AI (AI that takes actions for you) in one smooth package. The company is also giving early buyers $200 in credit for future AI tasks. Whether this convinces people to swap out their trusted earbuds remains to be seen, but the direction is clear: your earbuds are becoming a personal assistant you talk to.
