Free AI Voices Now Run on Your Phone Without Internet
This could make talking gadgets cheaper and more private for everyone.
Gradium has made its first open-source model release with Phonon, a collection of small Text-to-Speech models designed to run on device. The inference stack is fully open-source and targets 10+ different backends—CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs—most of them in Rust. Gradium says it hopes the community will build many different things on top of its models and code, welcomes feedback, and looks forward to more open-source releases.
