Perplexity AI has released Personal Computer for Mac, a significant expansion of its Computer feature that brings local AI workflows to the desktop. The new capability allows users to edit local files, browse the web with Comet, manage local computer tasks, and use voice orchestration directly from the Perplexity desktop app. Max subscribers have full access now, while Pro subscribers will receive it in a phased rollout. A Windows version is on the waitlist.
Alongside the launch, Perplexity upgraded Computer with Claude Opus 4.7 as the default orchestrator model, offering higher-quality reasoning, writing, and coding. Users can now choose between Opus 4.7, GPT-5.4, and Claude Sonnet 4.6. Background agents now support mid-task steering without restarting, and Computer is now integrated into Spaces for collaborative document editing and knowledge curation. The new Personal CFO feature, powered by Plaid, lets users connect bank accounts, track spending, and visualize net worth—currently available on web in the US and Canada.
