Over 250 rare Han dynasty relics on display in major Hong Kong showcase
Major free exhibition features over 250 Han dynasty artifacts, with 95% never before displayed in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is hosting a landmark cultural exhibition, "The Majestic Han: A Golden Age of Vigour and Cultural Integration," co-organized by the Development Bureau and the National Cultural Heritage Administration. The showcase, running at the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui until September 20, presents a rare collection of over 250 sets of artifacts from the Han dynasty (206 BCE – 220 CE). A staggering 95% of these relics from mainland China are being displayed in Hong Kong for the very first time, offering an unprecedented look into one of China's most influential historical periods. Admission is free, following the successful model of last year's Tang dynasty exhibition.
Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn Hon-ho has framed the event as a direct "sequel" to the 2025 Tang dynasty showcase, which attracted approximately 127,000 visitors. Linn emphasized that both the Han and Tang dynasties represent foundational golden eras that left a profound historical legacy for the Chinese nation. The exhibition aims to continue fostering public engagement with China's deep cultural heritage, building on the proven public interest demonstrated by the previous event's strong attendance figures.
