Fidji Simo, OpenAI's chief executive of AGI deployment, is stepping down from her full-time role due to a severe relapse of postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a chronic neuroimmune condition she has managed for seven years. Simo joined OpenAI's board in March 2024 and later took over product and business organizations under CEO Sam Altman.
