OpenAI's ChatGPT Pro adds personal finance with Plaid and GPT-5.5
Connect your bank accounts and get AI-powered spending analysis.
OpenAI has introduced a personal finance integration for ChatGPT Pro subscribers in the U.S., enabling users to link their financial accounts via Plaid and query the chatbot for spending analysis, portfolio tracking, and financial planning. The feature connects to over 12,000 institutions including Schwab, Fidelity, Chase, Robinhood, American Express, and Capital One. After linking, users see a dashboard of portfolio performance, subscriptions, and upcoming payments. The launch comes one month after OpenAI acquired the team behind personal finance startup Hiro (backed by Ribbit, General Catalyst, Restive), whose expertise informed the product.
The tool is accessed by selecting “Get started” under the “Finances” option in the sidebar or typing “@Finances, connect my accounts” in a conversation. OpenAI plans to add Intuit support for tax analysis and credit card approval odds. The company notes that over 200 million users already ask financial questions monthly, and the new GPT-5.5 model provides stronger reasoning for context-heavy finance queries. Users can disconnect services via Settings > Apps > Finances (data removed after 30 days) and delete financial memories. The feature is currently available on web and iOS for Pro users, with Plus access pending feedback.
