OpenAI has added a 'data agent' to ChatGPT Work, its business version of ChatGPT. An agent is AI that can take actions on your behalf, not just answer questions. You then type a normal question — 'which customers stopped buying this year?' — and it pulls the numbers, explains them, and offers to build an interactive dashboard you can click through.
Why should you care? Because right now, getting an answer like that usually means emailing the data team and waiting. Sometimes days. OpenAI is selling the promise that anyone who can describe what they want can get a chart back in minutes.
