ROS Lyrical adds 104 packages, updates MoveIt 2.15 and Nav2 1.5
MoveIt 2.15.0 and Nav2 1.5.1 headline a massive ROS Lyrical sync.
The ROS Lyrical distribution received a major refresh today, as the Open Robotics team announced the release of 104 new packages and 150 updates, all tagged under lyrical/2026-08-19. This sync brings long-awaited upgrades to the Ubuntu Resolute (amd64) platform, with contributions from maintainers across the ROS ecosystem. The update significantly expands the Lyrical package index, giving robotics developers access to newer versions of core tools without needing to build from source.
Headlining the release is MoveIt 2.15.0, a comprehensive motion planning framework that arrives with dozens of metapackages: moveit-core, moveit-ros-planning, moveit-hybrid-planning, and planners like CHOMP, OMPL, and STOMP. Alongside it, Nav2 1.5.1 updates the navigation stack with key packages like nav2-amcl, nav2-behavior-tree, nav2-mppi-controller, and nav2-waypoint-follower. Other notable additions include slam-toolbox 2.10.0, pick-ik 1.1.3, fields2cover 2.0.0, and the task constructor capabilities. This sync makes it easier for robot developers to deploy cutting-edge motion planning and autonomous navigation on Ubuntu Resolute.
