Mobility-Aware Cache Framework for Scalable LLM-Based Human Mobility Simulation
A new caching system slashes the computational cost of simulating millions of virtual people for urban planning.
Researchers Hua Yan, Heng Tan, Yingxue Zhang, and Yu Yang developed MobCache, a mobility-aware cache framework for scalable human mobility simulation using LLMs. It encodes reasoning steps into latent-space embeddings for reuse and employs a lightweight decoder. This approach maintains simulation fidelity while dramatically improving computational efficiency, enabling large-scale simulations for urban planning and epidemiology that were previously too costly with standard LLM agents.
Why It Matters
Enables faster, cheaper city-scale simulations for traffic planning, pandemic modeling, and public policy testing.
