Microsoft's new Windows 11 Bluetooth update comes with useful benefits (and a major caveat)

Microsoft's latest update brings a major audio upgrade, but there's a big catch...

Deep Dive

Microsoft is rolling out Bluetooth LE Audio support to compatible Windows 11 Copilot+ PCs, enabling users to broadcast audio to two compatible accessories simultaneously for shared listening. The feature requires both the PC and receiving devices (headphones, earbuds, hearing aids) to support the LE Audio standard. It also introduces Super Wideband (SWB) for clearer 32 kHz voice calls and SWB stereo for immersive gaming/movie audio. The rollout is happening via Windows Update, with a 'Shared audio (preview)' tile appearing in Quick Settings for eligible devices.

Why It Matters

This transforms Windows PCs into personal audio hubs for travel and collaboration, but compatibility limitations will frustrate many users.
