Meta Now Wants to Run Your Business With AI Agents

⚡Your next customer service chat may be answered by Meta's AI, not a person.

Deep Dive

Meta launched Meta Enterprise Platform, a new business that brings its AI models, agents, coding tools, and infrastructure together as products companies can deploy themselves. CEO Mark Zuckerberg called it the "next major pillar" of Meta's business, and its initial stack includes the Muse agent — capable of sending emails, booking travel, and completing multistep tasks — along with Meta Business Agent, Muse API, and Muse Code. Meta says more than one million businesses already use a Business Agent on WhatsApp and Messenger to answer questions, recommend products, book appointments, qualify leads, and close sales, and that more than one billion active threads with businesses take place across WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram each day. To lead the push, Meta hired former MongoDB CEO Chirantan "CJ" Desai as chief enterprise platform officer, reporting directly to Zuckerberg. The move puts Meta into an enterprise AI market already crowded with Microsoft, Salesforce, Google, and ServiceNow.
