Leveraging Content Producer Networks and User Perception to Detect Online Discursive Communities
Researchers found a smarter way to track online tribes and their influence.
A new AI framework detects online political communities by focusing on the small fraction of users who produce most content. Researchers tested it on three major Italian Twitter/X debates, using verified public figures as 'leaders'. The method clusters these leaders based on interactions or audience overlap, then extends labels to followers. It outperformed standard baselines, accurately recovering political parties and coalitions with more coherent and interpretable community structures.
