The competition also extended to price: OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Luna undercuts most rivals, while Gemini 3.5 Flash Lite remains the cheapest option for high-volume tasks. For the most cost-sensitive workloads, GPT-5 nano (released August 2025) is still an order of magnitude cheaper than any 2026 model.
