Apple iOS 27 rebuilds Siri with ChatGPT-like chatbot and Dynamic Island AI

According to Bloomberg’s leaked illustrations, Apple’s upcoming iOS 27 will center on a fully rebuilt Siri that moves beyond simple voice commands. Instead of a pop-up assistant, Siri will live inside the iPhone’s Dynamic Island, displaying redesigned animations when triggered by voice or the power button. A new swipe-down gesture from the top center opens a “Search or Ask” interface that blends system search with AI chat. The leaked designs show a dedicated Siri app resembling ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude, complete with chat history, text and voice mode, and file upload support. A dropdown menu will let users switch between Apple’s own system and external assistants, including ChatGPT.

Beyond Siri, iOS 27 integrates AI deeper across the system. Apple is reportedly building an AI-powered web search and the ability to route queries to third-party AI services (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude). The Camera app will gain an AI mode to replace existing Visual Intelligence, allowing users to analyze photos or send them to Google reverse image search or external agents. The Photos app adds AI editing tools such as “Reframe” for composition adjustments and “Extend” to generate missing image parts. These features are expected to be previewed at WWDC on June 8, with a public release in September alongside the next iPhone lineup.
