Anthropic launches Claude Platform on AWS with native access and unified billing

No more separate API keys — Claude's full platform now inside your AWS account.

Deep Dive

Anthropic announced general availability of Claude Platform on AWS, a new service that lets customers use Anthropic’s native Claude experience directly from their AWS account. This is the first time a cloud provider offers the full Claude Platform, including the Messages API, Claude Managed Agents (beta), advisor tool, web search/web fetch, MCP connector, Agent Skills, code execution, and Files API. Authentication uses existing AWS IAM credentials — no separate accounts or API keys. Billing is handled through AWS Marketplace on a consumption basis, and all activity is captured in AWS CloudTrail for auditing alongside other AWS services. AWS is the first cloud provider to offer access to the native Claude Platform experience.

Getting started requires three steps: create a workspace (which serves as the primary IAM resource), authenticate via IAM Signature V4 or an API key, then make API calls. Customers can point Claude Code or Claude Cowork at their workspace by setting environment variables. Claude Platform on AWS is operated by Anthropic, with underlying requests processed outside the AWS security boundary, making it ideal for teams without strict regional data residency requirements. It complements Claude models available on Amazon Bedrock, giving customers flexibility in how they access Claude.

Key Points
  • Claude Platform on AWS is now generally available, offering native APIs and features like Managed Agents, web search, code execution, and MCP connector.
  • Authentication uses AWS IAM credentials; billing is via AWS Marketplace; all usage is auditable through AWS CloudTrail.
  • Setup requires a workspace, authentication (IAM or API key), and one API call — supports integration with Claude Code and Claude Cowork.

Why It Matters

Enterprises can now use Claude’s full platform inside AWS, simplifying compliance, billing, and security management.
