ImmCOGNITO: Identity Obfuscation in Millimeter-Wave Radar-Based Gesture Recognition for IoT Environments
Your smart home's gesture controls could be secretly identifying you. This new system stops it.
A new AI system called ImmCOGNITO protects user privacy in radar-based smart home controls. Millimeter-wave radar, used for gesture recognition, can unintentionally capture a person's unique biometric signature. The system uses a graph-based autoencoder to transform the radar data, stripping out identifying information while preserving the accuracy of the gesture commands. Tests show it significantly reduces identification accuracy while maintaining high performance for recognizing intended gestures.
Why It Matters
It enables convenient, camera-free smart home interfaces without sacrificing personal privacy.
