Meta's New Free App Lets You Make Games by Just Describing Them

Meta just made it incredibly easy for anyone to create their own games. The new Pocket app lets you "vibe code" — meaning you describe what you want in plain English, and artificial intelligence builds it for you. No programming experience needed. The app is free and available to everyone.

When ZDNET's writer tried it, he asked the app to make a game where you bake cookies for increasingly angry customers. In just 59 seconds, a playable game appeared. It was fun but tough, so he asked for an easier version — and the app adjusted the difficulty right away. He and his kids also made a driving game, virtual bubble wrap, a tilt-to-balance marble game, and a cat picture that plays dramatic sound when you tap it.

Pocket also has a social feed where you can explore games and experiences made by other people, like trying on jewelry or skipping stones across a virtual lake. The app saves all your creations automatically, and you can tweak them anytime by typing new instructions. Meta says photos and videos used in creations are never sent off the app.

There are some limits: the games are usually simple, and some can be overly challenging or rough around the edges. But for anyone curious about building something with AI, Pocket is a friendly, playful starting point — no technical skills required.
