Apple releases iOS 27 developer beta: Here's how to install it
Try iOS 27 now on iPhone 11 or newer with a free developer account
Apple announced iOS 27 at WWDC 2026 and immediately released the developer beta. Most iPhone users will get the stable version this fall, but developers and early adopters can try it now. You'll need an iPhone 11 or newer running at least iOS 17. The free tier of the Apple Developer Program is enough to access the beta, while the paid $99/year membership adds deeper development tools.
To install, download the Apple Developer app from the App Store, sign in with your Apple ID (enrolled in the free or paid program), then go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates and select iOS 27 Developer Beta. If the option doesn't appear, enable Developer Mode under Settings > Privacy & Security.
Before installing, back up your device and avoid using your primary iPhone, as developer betas often contain bugs and performance issues. The public beta follows next month. iOS 27 includes new AI photo editing tools, Siri improvements, and other features previewed at WWDC.
