Cohere Health digitizes healthcare policies with Amazon Bedrock

Cohere Health, a clinical intelligence company, has launched Cohere Policy Studio — a new tool built on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore that digitizes healthcare clinical policies into structured, machine-readable formats. This solution directly tackles the persistent inefficiency in prior authorization processes, where approval rules are often locked in unstructured, static documents. By converting these policies into standardized, API-accessible data, health plans can automate workflows while preserving the clinical judgment required for approvals.

The platform leverages Amazon Bedrock AgentCore’s multi-tenant isolation, managed agent runtime, and unified tool access to scale policy digitization across diverse health plans, geographies, and business lines. Cohere Health configured AgentCore Gateway to integrate with MCP-based tools and session memory, enabling real-time feedback loops and governance. This architecture supports over 80% real-time electronic prior authorization approvals as required by AHIP commitments, while meeting CMS’s 2027 API mandate. The solution also addresses auditability, version control, and cross-functional representation needs across downstream systems.
