GeoGR: A Generative Retrieval Framework for Spatio-Temporal Aware POI Recommendation

Researchers from Alibaba's AMAP navigation platform have unveiled GeoGR, a new generative AI framework for Point-of-Interest (POI) recommendation. It tackles limitations in current models by using a two-stage process: learning spatio-temporal relationships from user movement data and fine-tuning a large language model for POI generation. Deployed on AMAP, which serves billions, it has already boosted key online metrics, demonstrating superior performance over existing state-of-the-art methods in real-world tests.
